The Finals: Jean-Lou Bernard (Infernity) vs "Pro"-Ming Wong (Evilswarm)

I must say, it’s been a wonderful weekend for me. I’ve had a great time reporting to you readers what’s been going on in Outpost Antwerp’s basement for the past two days, but that’s almost over, as we’re preparing for the finals. But anyway, our two finalists here at the Belgian Yu-Gi-Oh National Championship 2014 are Jean-Lou Bernard and Ho-Ming Wong. Who will stand victorious? Who will be this year’s King of Games?

Dear heavens, just look at the time… IT IS TIME… TO DUEL!

This final dice roll is in the favour of Jean-Lou, who started the final with Upstart Goblin. Next, he set a card to each zone and ended.

Ho-Ming set 4 cards and ended. Jean-Lou had Armageddon Knight, whose effect got negated by Fiendish Chain. Jean-Lou played Instant Fusion, paying 1000 to Summon Kamionwizard, overlaying his monsters to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain, who got hit by Compulsory Evacuation Device. Jean-Lou set a new card and passed.

Ho-Ming had Evilswarm Castor and Heliotrope, and stacked them together to summon Evilswarm Ophion who let him add Infestation Pandemic. It attacked over Archfiend Heiress, which let Jean-Lou add an Infernity Archfiend.

Next, Jean-Lou set a card to each zone and ended. Ho-Ming activated Evilswarm Ophion’s effect once more to grab another Infestation Pandemic, and it attacked over Stygian Street Patrol. He filled his backline and ended

Jean-Lou filled his backline as well and banished Stygian Street Patrol, but Ho-Ming had Solemn Warning!  Jean-Lou set a monster and passed.

Ho-Ming’s turn again. He attacked over Infernity Archfiend, and set a card in Main Phase 2.

Jean-Lou activated Infernity Launcher and normal summoned Tinplate Goldfish. He used Launcher’s effect, to which Ho-Ming chained Maxx “C”. Jean-Lou Special Summoned Infernity Archfiend and searched for Infernity Break, which he set before ending his turn.

In his turn, Ho-Ming summoned Evilswarm Heliotrope and attack Infernity Archfiend. Infernity Break targeted Ophion, but H-Ming chained Infestation Pandemic, which Jean-Lou tried to negate with Infernity Barrier, which Ho-Ming sent back to the Deck with Wiretap! Evilswarm Ophion attacked over Tinplate Goldfish. In Main Phase 2, H-Ming set a new card ended.

Jean-Lou drew and summoned Infernity necromancer, whose effect Special Summoned Archfiend, who got hit by Bottomless Trap Hole! Jean-Lou added another Infernity Archfiend to his hand before ending his turn..

Ho-Ming attacked over the Infernity Necromancer, and then directly with Evilswarm Heliotrope. In Main Phase 2 he summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh and ended.

Jean-Lou drew, set a backrow, then summoned Armageddon Knight which sent Stygian Street Patrol to the Graveyard. It didn’t stay there for long, since Jean-Lou banished it to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend from his hand. Next, he activated Infernity Break to destroy Thunder King Rai-Oh. He overlaid his Monsters for Number 101: Silent Honor ARK, which stole Evilswarm Ophion, and then attacked into Dimensional Prison, leaving Jean-Lou to scoop.

Ho-Ming takes the lead in this final match be cleverly avoiding all the tricks Jean-Lou’s deck has to offer! Will this playstyle pay off in the next game? Both duelists grab their side Decks. This game might be the last one of today, and if it is, we have a new Belgian Champion. But jean-Lou isn’t going to let anyone take that title away easily.

Jean-Lou kicked things off again with Upstart Goblin. He then activated Reinforcement of the Army to search for Armageddon Knight, who put Stygian Street Patrol into the Graveyard. Jean-Lou activate its effect by banishing it, to which Ho-Ming chained Maxx “C”. Archfiend got Special Summoned, and Jean-Lou overlaid his Monsters for Lavalval Chain in Defence Mode, which detached Infernity Archfiend to send Stygian Street Patrol to the graveyard. He then set a card and ended.

Ho-Ming summoned Ice Hand and destroyed Lavalval Chain with it, then set 4.

Jean-Lou Summoned Infernity Necromancer, switched it to defence, then tried to activate Stygian Street Patrol’s effect which got stopped by Solemn Warning! However, Jean-Lou had Soul Charge for Armageddon Knight and Infernity Archfiend, and Armageddon sent Stygian Street Patrol. He proceeded to overlay for Number 50: Blackship of Corn, who got stopped by Black Horn of Heaven. Stygian Street Patrol’s effect let Jean-Lou Special Summon Archfiend Heiress. Jean-Lou set all the cards he had remaining in his hand, stacked his Monster for Leviair the Sea Dragon, to get back Stygian Street Patrol.

Ho-Ming Summoned a second Ice Hand, which attacked over Stygian Street Patrol. In Main Phase 2, Ho-Ming set another card before ending his turn.

In Jean-Lou’s Standby Phase, Leviair got sent back by Compulsory Evacuation Device. Jean-Lou set a card and ended his turn.

Ho-Ming attacked with both Hands, set a card and ended his turn.

Jean-Lou drew a card, set it and ended his turn. Things surely didn’t look too well for Jean-Lou

Ho-Ming attacked with both Ice Hand, 1 of which got hit by Compulsory Evacuation Device. In Main Phase 2 he set a card to each zone, and in the End Phase Dust Tornado took out Black Horn of Heaven.

Jean-Lou drew Archfiend! All of Ho-Ming’s fans moaned as he Special Summoned it, adding Infernity Launcher and activate it to Special Summon Necromancer and Archfiend, the latter’s effect let him add another Necromancer. Stygian Street Patrol’s effect Special Summoned it, and Jean-Lou overlaid his Archfiends for Diamond Dire Wolf, who popped itself to destroy a set Dimensional Prison. Necromancer’s effect Special Summoned  Archfiend, searching for Infernity Break. He overlaid his Necromancers for Leviair which got back Stygian Street Patrol. He overlaid his Monsters for Abyss Dweller. Jean-Lou activated its effect before attacking and destroying 2 copies of Ice Hand.

Ho-Ming Special Summoned Evilswarm Mandragora, and Normal Summoned Evilswarm Castor! He overlaid them for Evilswarm Exciton Knight, who got destroyed by Jean-Lou’s Black Horn of Heaven, so Ho-Ming ended his turn. Leviair got back Stygian Street Patrol, Jean-Lou attacked with all of his Monsters, leaving Ho-Ming at 3500 Life Points.

Ho-Ming drew his card and scooped! Jean-Lou evens the score and is still in the game! When things were looking horrid for our reigning champion, he got put back in the game through Infernity Archfiend!

Ho-Ming kicked things of with 2 Evilswarm Castor to go into Evilswarm Ophion, which searched for Infestation Pandemic. He set his entire hand and ended his turn.

Jean-Lou simply set a card to each zone. Ho-Ming activated Ophion’s effect to search for another Pandemic. Using Evilswarm Kerykeion, he Summoned a Castor from his grave by banishing the other one. Ophion took out Stygian Street Patrol and the other Evilswarm attacked directly. In Main Phase 2 Ho-Ming overlaid for Lavalval Chain, using its effect to put Rescue Rabbit on the top of his Deck. Ho-Ming ended his turn.

Jean-Lou drew and activated Infernity Launcher, discarding Infernity Archfiend. He then Normal Summoned Armageddon Knight, who got hit by Fiendish Chain. Despite this, Jean-Lou used Stygian Street Patrol to Special Summon Infernity Necromancer from his hand. He set all the cards in his hand, but when he tried to use Necromancer’s effect it got negated by Fiendish Chain. Archfiend’s Roar got back Infernity Archfiend, searching for Infernity Barrier, which was then set it. Jean-Lou overlaid Armageddon Knight and Infernity Archfiend for Number 101: Silent Honor ARL, whose Summon got negated by Black Horn of Heaven. Using his set Soul Charge, Jean-Lou got back Armageddon Knight and Infernity Archfiend. Armageddon Knight sent Stygian Street Patrol. Archfiend searched for Infernity Necromancer. Next, Jean-Lou overlaid his Monster for Diamond Dire Wolf, which destroyed itself to destroy a set Safe Zone.
Next, Stygian Street Patrol’s effect Special Summoned Necromancer, whose effect was used to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend, adding Infernity  Break, which got set. Jean-Lou stacked his Necromancers for Leviar the Sea Dragon, whose effect got back Stygian Street Patrol. He overlaid it with Archfiend for Lavalval chain, whose effect was used to send Archfiend. Launcher’s effect was used to Special Summon it and Necromancer. Archfiend searched for Break, which got set, and Necromancer got back another Archfiend, getting Jean-Lou another Infernity Break in his backrow. He overlaid his 2 Archfiends for  Diamond Dire Wolf, whose effect was used to destroy Evilswarm Ophion. “Looks like I win! There’s nothing left you can do!” Jean-Lou declared.

Ho-Ming drew Rescue Rabbit and activated Laval Chain’s effect to put Evilswarm Kerykeion on top of his Deck. Next, he summoned his Rabbit, who got destroyed by Infernity Break. The Lavalval Chains destroyed each other. Jean-Lou drew and summoned Stygian Street Patrol, then Leviair get back another Stygian Street Patrol. He used Infernity Break on Fiendish Chain, then activated Infernity Necromancer to get back Archfiend, searching for another Archfiend. He proceeded to overlay both Stygian Street Patrols for Number 66: Master Key Beetle, which protected Necromancer. Jean-Lou banished Stygian Street Patrol’s effect to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend. Jean-Lou attacked with all those monsters, leaving Ho-Ming with only 100 Life Points! Sadly for him, Jean-Lou Xyz Summoned Gagaga Cowboy in Defence Mode! Ho-Ming scooped up his cards as the crowd put their hands together for the winner.

Jean-Lou can keep his crown for one more year thanks to giant Infernity plays! Congratulations!
